At Barlaston First School we welcome everyone into our school community.
The staff, governors, pupils and parents work together to make sure that Barlaston is a happy, welcoming place where children can reach their full potential.
We are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum.
Addressing Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is a strength of our school. Children thrive under our passionate approach to meeting their needs, whatever those needs may be.
All pupils need to experience praise, recognition and success; pupils with SEND have an equal entitlement to this. Our SEND policy outlines the framework the school follows to fulfil its duty to provide a high quality education to all of its pupils, including pupils with SEND. By working together with pupils, parents, staff and outside agencies, Barlaston First School ensures that the curriculum provided is accessible to all, in accordance with the Equality Act (2010) and Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations (2014). We follow the SEND Code of Practice (2015) to ensure we provide the best for all pupils, regardless of their ability.
Our SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator) is Mrs Emma Haddrell. She completed the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators in January 2022. She can be contacted via email at: ehaddrell@barlaston.staffs.sch.uk
