Special Educational Needs at Barlaston First School
We endeavour to provide appropriate learning opportunities for all children in our school, to ensure that we meet their needs and provide them with the best education possible.
Addressing special educational needs (SEN) is a strength of our school. Children thrive under our robust approach to meeting their needs, whatever those needs may be.
One of our senior teachers is our designated SENCo, (special educational needs co-ordinator). This job involves tracking the progress and attainment of our SEN children, along with the class teacher and ensuring steps are taken to maintain their progress.
Should outside agencies need to be involved eg, learning support, autism outreach, these agencies are contacted when appropriately, whilst working alongside the parents of the child to keep them informed.
We are a dyslexia friendly school and attained full dyslexia status for our work in the school.
