A big welcome to our Early Years Department at Barlaston C.E (VC) First School. Our Early Years family is made of two classes; Little Dormouse Class (Nursery) and Hedgehog Class (Reception), each class can cater for up to 30 children.
When children join our early years family, every day we strive to achieve our Early Years vision…
‘Together we all flourish through nurture, nature and passion.’
We recognise every child and family to be part of our nurturing family with a deep sense of belonging, surrounded by and working alongside nature, then for our passionate staff, visitors and their peers to support them to follow their passions and ‘let their light shine’.
Alongside our broad and balanced curriculum, we provide several opportunities for our children, these include:
- Swimming,
- Regular visits to church
- Regular visits to the local village including Barlaston Downs, and the canal.
- Termly enrichment days
- Outside visits from professionals from a range of different fields.
- Termly educational visits, e.g. Peak Wildlife park, Ammerton farm.
What’s more we value greatly a strong home school relationship and adopt a supported open culture for our families. So, throughout the year provide numerous opportunities for family members to come in and work with their children, including:
- Stay and play
- Let’s learn together
- Family book time
- Secret storyteller
- Church services
- Oasis coffee morning
