In September 2018, our school became a pilot school for a Lichfield Diocese scheme of work investigating ways which schools could learn about mission in the world beyond the local area.

We began working with Feed the Hungry UK and our church to forge links with The Soweto Academy, a school in Kibera, Nairobi.

In January 2019, Mrs Clarey, Mrs Broome and Mrs Price, along with Vicar Stewart went to Kenya with a small team to visit Soweto Academy, Soweto Juniors and Kisumu Dogo School in Kibera.

Since returning from Kenya, we have continued to strengthen our links with the schools we working in. Letters have been exchanged between pupils and photographs shared. The children at our school really wanted to do something to help.

We decided to fund-raise so that we could send money to allow water storage facilities to be built at a Kisumo Dogo School, which had been very badly affected by flooding and also a road being build through the middle of the slum. . At a social evening, we shared pictures of our visit and explained how we had been impacted by our time in Kibera. The highlight of this was a video call to Victor Ombito, the director of the school. We managed to raise approximately £1500 during the evening.
