McMillan Coffee Afternoon Friday 28th Sept and Hedgehogs First Visit to Family Worship

Please come and join us on Friday 28th Sept at 2.45pm for our McMillan coffee afternoon. This will take place after the family worship, and will enable your child to join you in the school hall at the end of the school day. Please come along and support this amazing charity. If anyone wishes to donate a cake or biscuits, any donations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Also, this will be the first family worship the new reception children will take part in. We always allow a few weeks for the children to settle, before they attend whole school worships, but they will be more than ready by then.

We would love to see any parents from the Hedgehog class at this worship. Come and have a peek into part of their school day, and join in with part of their school life. We look forward to seeing you there!

Message from the PTA

This is a message for all parents, those new to the school and those not! We are looking for parents/ grandparents to join our PTA. We raise money for the school, and our main project at the moment is raising funds for a new adventure playground. The existing one has been in place for many years, and we are in need of a replacement. We plan many activities to raise funds, and would welcome your support and ideas. Please come along and join in our meetings, everyone is welcome. If you are interested in helping out the school funds, and your child’s education, please pop along to our meeting on 17th Oct, 7.00pm at The Upper House.

Change of Date for PTA Quiz Night

Please note that the quiz night scheduled for Friday 5th October, will now take place on Fri 9th Nov.

Feed the Hungry

As you may be aware, we are supporting the charity Feed the Hungry in a large project involving school and church. We are twinned with Soweto Academy in Nairobi, a school with  over 1000 pupils! Feed the Hungry works alongside such poverty stricken areas by providing these children with a meal each day. For the vast majority of children, this will be their only meal. As our Harvest focus this year, we will be asking for your help in providing not the food, (this has to be specially packaged etc) but paper, pencils, crayons etc for the children. In January, myself, Mrs Price, Mrs Broome and Rev Stewart will be going over to the slums and visiting the school. We will be taking over all the materials gathered in our Harvest appeal, so we will be handing them over personally! I need to say at this point, the visits are self-funded by each member of staff. This will certainly not be coming out of the school budget. We look forward to making a difference in the lives of these children, and for our children here at Barlaston to see the difference they are making. Many thanks for your support.

Best wishes    Mrs Clarey and Team
