Our Themed Days
Design Technology Day
In order to develop skills in DT we usually plan a two day topic throughout the school. This enables the children to learn and practise new skills on the first day and create a product using these skills on the second day.
We usually have DT days every term and then children really enjoy using the different equipment, developing their skills, making designs on paper, which are then made into objects using the skills.
Below are a range of photographs from our DT days.
This project was liked to a visit from the fire service and the children were making and testing out different materials for strength and durability linked to ladders used by the firemen.
Children are taught to use DT equipment safely and always under adult supervision.
For our exciting art themed days, the children are sometimes placed into different age/ different ability groups which encourages new friendship groups and the chance to work with other children than those in their class. At the end of our theme days, the children all gather in the school hall to show their work and to share with others their enjoyment of the day.
The whole school took part in a huge weaving project based on the theme of “Winter”
