Special Educational Needs at Barlaston First School
At Barlaston First School we endeavour to provide appropriate learning opportunities for all children in our school, to ensure that we meet their needs and provide them with the best education possible.
Addressing Special Educational Needs (SEN) is a strength of our school. Children thrive under our robust approach to meeting their needs, whatever those needs may be.
Our SENCo (special educational needs co-ordinator) is Mrs Emma Haddrell. This job involves tracking the progress and attainment of our SEN children, along with the class teacher and ensuring steps are taken to maintain their progress.
Mrs Haddrell liaises with outside agencies and professionals to ensure that the needs of all children with Special Educational Needs are met. These agencies can include Learning Support, the Autism outreach Team, CAMHS to name a few.
We are a dyslexia friendly school and attained full dyslexia status for our work in the school.
